Review: Stranger than Fiction

Chick 1 says:stranger-than-fiction

In honor of April 15th, I’m posting this review of Stranger than Fiction.  I’ve not viewed it recently but I own it & it’s one of my favorites.  If you’ve already completed your mad dash to the post office, swing by the video store & pick up a copy.  Or come by my apartment & borrow mine.  I’ll be watching Lost.   Sshhh.  No talking.

What I Liked:   Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) directs this delightful quirky little tale.  Will Ferrell is spot on as the IRS agent (there’s your April 15th connection) who begins to hear someone narrating his life.  Both hilarity & poignancy ensue.  Will Ferrell is not his normal crazy self here.  I enjoy his brand of silliness but his performance as Harold Crick (what a great name) has the restraint it needs.  The rest of the cast fulfill their duties to perfection as well.  Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson, Queen Latifah, & a host of minor characters are a joy to watch.

What I Didn’t Like: Um…I think this movie pretty much gets it right.

Bottom Line:  A sweet thoughtful story.  Don’t let Will Ferrell’s other movies stop you from seeing this one.
