Combine I, Robot with the Matrix and you’ve got Eagle Eye.  Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) are swept up in the world of national secret intelligence and forced to carry out the orders of a mysterious female voice on every cellular and mobile device around them.  Of course, they soon uncover a plot that threatens national security.  I wonder if they thwart it?  Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Star Trek

Chick 1 says:star trek

Star Trek, it’s not just for geeks anymore.  Well, actually, that’s a little difficult for me to say since I am a geek.  But, Oh My Gosh!

What I Liked:  Pretty much everything!  I was initially drawn to this movie by the cast and they did not disappoint.  Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Transformers

Put in some slow motion, a lot of light flares, and a circular dolly track shot and Michael Bay thinks you’ve got a movie.  Add some performance footage of a rock band and I admit it would make a good music video.  Maybe Bay should stick to that.  Read the rest of this entry »

Review: The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Expectations have a lot to do with how much I (and most people) enjoy a movie.  If your expectations are too high, it’s hard for a movie to live up to them.  On the other hand, if your expectations are low, the movie may benefit from that.  Such was the case with Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Review: X-Men Origins Wolverine

Or, How I Became Wolverine.  Or, What the X-Men Did Before Charles Xavier. Or, …  You get the point.  I suppose if I were a 25-year-old male who had grown up reading about the spandex clad Wolverine this movie would have thrilled me.  As it is, it was a slightly disappointing opening to the summer movie season.  Read the rest of this entry »

Review: State of Play

Finally!  Back in a theater after being thwarted by my schedule, my budget, & the lack of movies I actually want to see being released.  State of Play wasn’t really high on my must list but it has a great cast so The Flick Chicks gave it a look-see. Read the rest of this entry »

In honor of April 15th, I’m posting this review of Stranger than Fiction.  I’ve not viewed it recently but I own it & it’s one of my favorites.  If you’ve already completed your mad dash to the post office, swing by the video store & pick up a copy.  Or come by my apartment & borrow mine.  I’ll be watching Lost.   Sshhh.  No talking. Review: Michael Clayton

Having seen Good Night and Good Luck on my RDJ list, I decided to add some George Clooney movies to my queue.  And this Oscar nominated thriller was next.

What I Liked: Quite a lot.  This is an intelligent, smooth thriller.  The story quietly moves along letting the tension rumble beneath the surface.  Read the rest of this entry »

In my continuing quest to see the movies of Robert Downey Jr, I came across this ensemble piece directed by George Clooney, based on the true story of Edward Murrow’s confrontation with Senator Joseph McCarthy. Read the rest of this entry »
