You probably already know that when Heath Ledger died tragically two years ago, he was in the middle of filming the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. The creative team behind the film, led by director Terry Gilliam, came up with what I think was an inspired solution to losing their star. Apparently, the story involved Ledger’s character going through a mirror (a la Alice) three times. When Ledger died, he had completed filming almost all the scenes on one side of the mirror. First peeks at several new films I’ve been curious about. My reactions range from “meh” to “it might not be that bad”.
The Karate Kid: My feelings on this upcoming remake have been suspicious, especially the casting of Jackie Chan & Jaden Smith in the leads. I have to admit this trailer had a nice energy but I’m still not convinced it has the heart the original one had. Maybe I just still have a soft spot for Ralph Macchio. Read more

Inception: Leonardo Dicaprio in a Christopher Nolan movie? Yes please! Throw in Joseph Gordon-Levitt?! I may wet myself. This physics-bending teaser brings to mind The Matrix but I trust director Nolan to be more original than that. Have a peak. Read more

The Last Airbender: M. Night Shymalan is currently directing the movie version of Nickelodeon’s series of the same name. I’ve never seen it so I have no idea what it’s about but I’m glad to see Shymalan branching out. Read more
